While @Bre was making the saltwater I was creating the plumbing for the Fx6. I was able to completely do away with the ribbed hose that comes with the filter. We ended up finding some 1” tubing that fits onto the filter’s ball valve. Then I slid that onto the 3/4” PVC pipe that is behind the tank. For the inlet and outlet pieces I used the black rubber adapter that’s suppose to go on the ribbed hose and put that on a 3/4” male x 3/4” female. Then used a 3” piece of PVC followed by a 90, and then plumbed it back to the tubing. It was fairly easy once I knew the tubing would fit onto the ball valves.
Well done!
Not as nice of a return as my redneck doohickey spray bar but I'll let it slide... this time!
Well....it’s complete. After a few setbacks the 75 has water flowing through its pipes and the fish, hammer, and anemone seem happy despite their move. All in all there’s 20-25lbs of love rock, 20lbs of love sand, 20g of water from the old tank, and 60g of fresh saltwater. My skimmer pump went out on me a few months ago so I also replaced it with a new Aquatrance 1000 and it primed right up and started skimming. The lights was the biggest hassle. As I stated a few days ago, @Bre had took out the brackets for the light for a test fit and they didn’t fit. So I seen that some people with the same light ended up gluing the bracket upside down to rest on the topside of the rim so that’s what I did. 3 hours later I put the brackets on the side closest to the wall and the bracket fell right off. After 2 more attempts to glue the bracket I finally took a hammer to it and pried it open just enough to where it tightly snaps onto the rim how it’s suppose to. Once the light was on I set up the app and turned on the moonlight setting so the fish could finally get some rest. I guess they felt right at home because they were cozying right into the bubble tip anemone. 5 days since the snowflake and nem arrived at the house and it’s already hosting. Hopefully tomorrow the water is clear and I’ll start setting up the ramping and timer on the lights. Until tomorrow, goodnight my fellow reefers, and sweet dreams.
its there. I used a piece of the CaribSea Reef rock and it’s dark purple so it’s really hard to see it with my kitchen lights on and only the moonlight setting on on the lights. Once the whites come on at 10 I’ll post more pics. The water is no much more clear this morning than last night. This filter is a beast.Turned out well! I noticed you eliminated the little bridge between the islands. Any particular reason why?
