I've mentioned this before, but replacing 12v PSU with another one of the same quality is not a recommended solution and your case may be supporting this. Upgrading all capacitors on the PSU to something that actually works longer than a month is a preferred solution. See below:
The firmware is likely coincidental. Low quality capacitors operate at the maximum of the very little that they are capable off, which is always below the states specs. They are very susceptible to power surges, if you had a storm or a power outage recently, there was likely a surge which killed all of them within a week.
