So I’m just setting up my new aquatic life T5/LED hybrid and since I’ve never had this type of lighting before...wondering how far from the water surface to set my fixture? I have kessil a360WE x 2 for LEDs.

IMHO I'd run the leds and set the fixture so the led light just fills the tank with a minimum of light spill outside the tank. That gets you the optimum PAR from the leds.

I like the 8 to 10" height. I gotta have some room to work in the tank.

However, on my 20l reef the lights are like 20" off the water for a temp setup and the corals look amazing in it...

One more question...can these wires be shortened? This is my highest adjustment with my new hanging hardware...looks like about 5 inches from water surface, though we haven’t filled the tank yet.
