New biocube build

My old biocube cracked . I’ve been in a thrown together mess for months. My new biocube is finally in and put together, for now. My wife also got a protein skimmer, first time I’ve used one and man does it make a difference.

What skimmer you running? I got the coralife biocube skimmer v2. No more air stone works great once it is broke in.

That’s the same one I’m running. It’s crushing it so far. SOOOO much crap is getting picked up in that cup. The first week it was barely anything and a light green but now it’s super dark black algea looking crap. It’s nasty.

Corals are really growing out. Lost my engineer goby to old age two days ago so it’s just my coral and my four stripe damsel chilling in my biocube.

Growth update: White zombies have grown two new full heads and are sprouting a third new one now. Added a small mushroom coral and some pulsing Xenia recently.

Are you running stock biocube 32 LEDs?

I set one up a couple of months ago and I am debating keeping it, going topless, or upgrading to something else. I am not a huge fan of the look of the white channel LEDs stock and don't want to pay so much for Steve's....

So, I want to retract my previous statement about the coralife skimmer. I had to do some maintenance to the tank and left it off for 2 days. turned it back on and it started the break in cycle again and It never did come out of it. Microbubbles for 3 weeks. Got a Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB and I couldn't be happer. However my cube is now topless and running and AI Prime 16HD

Yes I’m running stock LEDS. Everything is growing fine under them. Most people that bag on the stock lights have never owned a biocube......

Interesting to hear. Maybe I will give it a few months before doing something drastic (topless, complete upgrade).

The color rendering with the whites on is not my favorite, that is for sure, but I am also not liking my other options at this time.
