NEW BUILD/CADE REEF 2100 S2

Looks good, people seriously underestimate how heavy this tank is.

On top of being 19mm all around, it also has what looks to be close to 19mm full pane separating the DT from the ATO in the back.

I told them they needed 6 people, but four got it. It’s 740lbs dry. That’s one seriously heavy tank! Can’t believe they got it. Was waiting to see it hit the floor.

It was funny when they were moving mine.
We had 6 people and most of the way we were all lifting it together. But when we had to lift it to put it on the stand they said “We can just use 4 to get it on”. Well I said ok whatever, then they got it halfway up and they all started straining and yelling “ let it down, let it down” so i had to rush and get the rollers back underneath quickly.
We finally got it up, but it took 3 on one side and 2 on the other.

I can relate.I had to cover my eyes while they lifted the tank… thought I wanna stroke out.

I just gotta report on AlgaeBarn, the distributor of CADE aquariums. A couple days after I received the tank, they called me. They very nice and just wanted to be certain everything was going okay and there were no issues. I had a couple extremely minor issues, a missing O-Ring, and a problem with a hinge on a door. They shipped out replacements and extra parts the same day. They have been extremely professional and extremely attentive. I’ve been nothing but impressed as my build progresses.
As my build continues, I’m somewhat surprised. The hardest, most miserable part of this build? Cable managment!!!! Trying to keep everything clean, tight, and organized has been a nightmare!!! I’m tempted to hire a local aquarium company to handle it…. I’m probably not, but I am legit tempted.
My 250 gallon plastic water container will arrive the first week of March… along with my 100lbs of base live rock from TBS. I’m on a deadline now as I need to get wet before rock arrives. I could just keep in a bucket till I’m ready, but prefer to have to tank ready. All of my in-wall plumbing will begin once plastic container is here. It’s gonna be a really big job to get this built the way I envisioned.
Trying to order every single piece of hardware I want for the system all at once MIGHT have been a mistake. It’s a bit overwhelming trying to get this organized. I look forward to the time when I can reflect on this part and laugh.

I had planned to do much of my plumbing this past weekend. However, as of Friday something seemed off. I email AlgaeBarn with photos of what I’d done and they responded by saying there shouldn’t be any flexible tubing in the plumbing setup. And so I thought I was losing my mind… everything that came with the tank seemed to only fit one way… so I spent far too much time thinking I must be losing my mind. So spoke with them yesterday and they said our bad… they changed the plumbing setup recently to include this tubing. I was a tad angry, but these things happen. Anyways, this week my last two XR30 G6 fixtures should arrive. I’ll install those and begin with what is by far my least favorite part of reef keeping… cable management there are sooooooo many electrical cables. I swear, I’ve literally had nightmares about this. I loath messy, disorganized cable management… if anyone knows any magic spells or any advice at all… I’d love to hear it.

Mine also had flexible tubing… It came in two parts, the return manifold that attached to the check valve ( hidden inside ATO reservoir), and the part that attached to the main pump. It all seemed to work ok, but the return manifold will not allow much flow at all.
Will you DM me about how it affected your setup?

Edit: I guess we relate on more than one thing

Well, I spoke with AlgaeBarn Monday. Apparently CADE made changes to the plumbing kit and added the flexible tubing. I spent all weekend thinking I must be losing my mind… all for naught. I am REALLY not a fan of metric plumbing!!!! I keep having to order strange adapters which then take a week to arrive since nobody stocks them locally. Also, that piece of flex that attaches to the ATO… how are you supposed to fix it firmly when the flex… flexes?! did you work this out? Or just kinda let it sit?

I don’t exactly remember, I think it had some metal clamps which concerned me slightly. I do remember having to adjust it to get it to the corrected length. I’m fine with it though.

I use the metal clamps for the flexi tubing in the ATO no problems at all, but for the return pump flexi tubing I use plastic clamps as it's in salt water. The 2 flexi tubes are standard for Cades I thought as all the ones I've seen have them both.

The clamps it came with are titanium and can’t rust… just FYI. The issue I’m having is that the flex tubing on the ATO isn’t firm enough to hold the ATO pipe In place… it just kinda falls over.

I was aware of this. I just know pure ro/di has some strong corrosive properties. I’m not sure what they would be in relation to high grade titanium. I’m not really concerned, as I know CADE is very professional in their quality. In addition to this maintaining a strong water change schedule should negate any concerns I may of had.

The tubing should have a slight bend in it, do you have any pics?

I got things up and running for the most part. Overnight, one of the bulkheads wasn’t on tight enough and I awoke to a flood. Flood #001 2025. Love when that happens.
My TBS shipment of 130lbs of sand and 150lbs of base live rock arrives the 24th so I’ll def be ready for it. Shipment #2, 250lbs of premium live rock, arrives the 4th.

I have a pair of Abyzz A200 pumps. Due to the metric system, I had to order two sets of unions, one 40mm and one 50mm. Obviously, they don’t sell as many and so prices are high… shockingly high. The most I’ve ever paid for PVC.

Got the base rock and sand in… I’ll set it up nicer in a couple days. For now, I just wanted to get it all in the tank. Water will clear overnight.. took two trips to the airport and a lot of work.

It’s always wonderful… when starting a brand new tank… you go to bed and the tank is a murky cloudy mess, and you wake up to sparkling clear water. II brought my Pax Bellum C30 reactor online today and I’ll try to plumb in the Aqua UV today also. It’s at this point I’ll go back to the beginning and start trying to clean things up, cable management and organizational type stuff. Thus is the part I HATE. 😞 At this point I’ll begin trying to create an aesthetically pleasing rockscape. So far, I’m extremely impressed with the base rock from TBS and the sand is terrific!! It’s a very natural look. This was 125lbs of base rock and 120lbs of sand. The final shipment arrives on the 4th and is 150lbs of “premium” live rock. I’m very curious to see what that looks like. Ive not run into any issues which I find surprising. I’m a lifelong victim of Murphy’s Law so I’m certain something is waiting just around the corner. 😉

Out of curiosity why do you think it was so cloudy? Silt in the sand? I rinsed my substrate and at no point ever was my tank cloudy like this

Yes, it was just sediment. I didn’t rinse anything, just followed their instructions. Seems like rinsing it would’ve negated the entire point of it?
