Ok so I picked up a used aquarium this weekend and I have started to customize it my liking. If you have any feedback please feel free to comment or make suggestions.

It‘S a 23x23x23 cube made by GlassCages, with low iron on 3 sides and 1/2 thick glass. I’m not a fan of this style over flow so I have ordered a Modular Marine 1200gph to install once I’m finished cleaning the aquarium and patching the holes.

The stand was also a little too gaudy (37”) at the top so I removed the top section. I think its a much smaller slimmer profile now. The sump is a eshopp’s and will suffice for now. I’m looking for a 4 wide ATO reservoir box to fit next to the sump.

Wow, you are really going to town on that— congratulations! Just as an aquascaping idea, my office tank has one giant column of rock in the center for the fish to swim all around. I’m trying to grow it out with Pulsing Xenia. Can’t wait to see what you do with your tank. :)

Did a little work today, dropped of the old overflow glass panels to be cut, so I can cover the holes in the bottom. Bought a pice of wood and raised the level of where it will rest so its so deep and makes it hard to remove and install as well. Waiting a few parts now, what is the best way to water stains off of the glass?

Made a little more progress, painted and removed one of the back sections to all for the return pump plumbing and the drain/emergency drains.

Sorry forgot to include the pics of the rear of the tank to allow for the plumbing to have a direct route. The will also allow me to fabricate a light mount that attaches to the back of the tank stand.

Wow you are making great progress! I love watching your progress and it is motivating me to keep the ball rolling on my tank.

I picked up a used tank and have been working on it since early June. Almost three months in and I haven't even glued the plumbing yet. My fish will be done with quarantine before my DT is full of water if I drag my feet anymore.

Thanks, I’m just trying to do a little each day. I’m waiting for my glass to be cut so I can seal up the holes in the bottom and install the Modular Marine overflow and do a leak test, once I know that is good I still need to build the scape and custom light bracket that will bolt to the back of the tank. Please share some pictures when you get a chance, I would love to see it.

Yeah I hear you. Try to get a little done whenever I get a chance.

You can see photos in my build thread. Just click on the build thread badge under my name and it will take you to it. You can do the same thing by following these instructions:

Been making a little progress, the leak test has been 48 hours now, I’m waiting on the overflow to arrive to drill and make some more progress. How long is long enough for a good leak test?

Ok made some progress yesterday, drilled for the overflow, cut and placed the mat under the tank, put black film on the back wall, and also put the ABS mat on the bottom of the tank so light doesn’t reflect of the bottom of the glass (I”m going bare bottom).

It’s been leak testing for over a week and so far so good. I’m currently do the aqua scape and making the mounts for the Aquatic Life T5 fixture. Trying to decide what power heads to buy for this thing. Here are a few more pics should have some good progress tomorrow.

Just a little progress, the light mounts are finished and I’m trying to get the siphon dialed in.

wow, everyone's plumbing look so clean. The plumbing on my cube is just two pipes, one for return and one for drain. Between yours and @mike89t, mine looks like i did plumbing for a goldfish bowl. It looks like you got two returns and three drains. I assume the 3rd is the backup to the 2nd which is also a back up.

Yes two returns and three drains. I might end going with one return I think two is two much flow and these are not DC pumps.
