New corals lower lights?

Hi everyone I got some new corals from my lfs and am curious if I should run my light low for a few days to a week. These are my first corals so i want to be extra careful but I also feel like they were only not under light for maybe 2-2.5 hrs between transient and acclimating. I put them on the sand floor to give them some lower light. I’m running a nicrew 135w in a 55 gallon. I currently have it at 70% which I’m guessing should be about 180 par at the bottom of the tank I don’t have a meter I’m going by what the manufacturer says. The corals are a hammer, candy cane and green star polyp Anyway someone with more experience let me know! Thanks!!

that’s not a very long time to be in the darkness - they’re used to 8hrs of darkness at night :)

Good to have them at the bottom to let them acclimatise and settle into your tank.

Next challenge will be deciding where to place them for the best flow for each. In my experience candy canes especially like gentle flow and less tolerant of medium/high flow

I suggest to never change the light because that affects the entire tank. You did the right thing to start on the sandbed and gradually move it.

By the way, never go according to the manufacturers claims, they always greatly exaggerate.

Couple hours is nothing, I buy a majority of my corals online over night. They get dipped, and placed on the sand, some get relocated to their new homes in a few days.

I kinda figured. They were claiming that par at 24” and my sand bed is at 18” so I figured that should account for the bs factor.
