What type of crab, etc. can I put in a new tank. Only up and running for a week. Or can't I ? Maybe should just get macro algae plant ?

I would hold off adding any livestock to the tank until it has been fully cycled...one week is way to soon to be adding anything.

Macro Algae will actually help your cycle out, it'll help remove the ammonia. But Inverts in a cycling tank would not be in good shape. But when your cycled.
