I have been fighting my existing mounting system for my lights for over two years. The original plan was for 6 XR30’s on EcoTech RMS system. This is over an 8 ft 450 gallon custom Crystal Dynamics. After putting 5 lights and seeing the almost 2” bow in the center I knew it would not be safe. This is an inwall build so the main access is from the back off of a rolling platform. Doing maintenance, coral placement, and fighting the dreaded sandbed dinoflagellates was a real pain around this system so I started looking for some one to build an electronically controlled adjustable height rack. As luck would have it a new LFS was opened about 40 miles north of me in Lumberton Texas. It is run by a husband and wife team who are both engineers by trade. It took a while because this system was designed, built, and proofed by Ross Gibbs of Wet Pets Aquatics. At this point a disclaimer: He has told me he will not be building any more of these but is willing to discuss what he did and what he used. This due to time constraints with the store on weekends and an 8-5 Monday through Friday.
