Hello all!
My first post here after lurking for some time!
I’ve had a few, small to medium, freshwater tanks growing up, but this will be my first marine tank—and quite a few other firsts too! It’s my first non-rectangular tank, my first time using a sump, and I’m now living in Macau, where the local aquarium shops don’t speak English. Guess who’ll be haunting these forums a lot?
The tank I’m planning for my living room is pictured below. The local shop has offered to custom-build it for a good price, but I’d love to bounce a few things off you guys first.
Cheers,
Chris

- The shop proposes using 12mm glass. However, the calculators linked here suggest 15mm glass for a safety factor of 3.8—but they’re meant for rectangular tanks. Since this is a curved design, should I insist on 15mm low-iron glass instead?
- For the internal overflow weir, I’ll be using 1” bulkheads. Is the proposed layout and spacing sufficient to avoid compromising the structural integrity of the bottom glass panel?
Cheers,
Chris
