Howdy y’all. Long time lover of all things water, always had freshwater aquariums growing up and wanted to get into saltwater with the goal of setting up a FOWLR tank with lionfish and eels.

Snagged a deal on a 120G setup with dual overflows in a Durso configuration (1” drain, 3/4” return line on both sides) with an early gen ESHOPPS RS-300 dual chamber sump tank and stand. Also has 2 pumps I intended to use for the return lines but unsure if I should replace them to start, one is a no name, the other is a Rio 2100. All this for $70. Also considered running one pump and using a Wye pipe fitting to split the return line from the pump to the two separate returns.

I’ve got a checklist of things I’m looking to tackle such as figuring out the best plumbing/fitting (thinking flex pvc for drains and returns with union fittings for easy disassembly and 45* elbows to smooth out flow from drain). Also need to find an elbow fitting (?) for the drain pipe in the overflow to have a siphon break or drill one in. Would appreciate input if this plumbing looks decent to build off of or if I should just toss it and get all new pvc/pvc flex for under tank plumbing.

looks like the bulkheads to the sump where the drain lines attach were fitted upside down. I just ordered a sink wrench to get the nut off so I can flip those around to be able to slip on/off filter socks.

I’ve been doing tons of reading and eager to do more. Already collecting dry live rock and will be ordering black live sand once my plumbing and salinity mixture is all figured out. Also have a 6500K USA Orbit LED light with controller. Much appreciated and impressed at the amount of people on here.
