I plan on getting an Azure Damsel (Kupang), but I would have to get it now, since it is really rare for it to arrive here. Now my problem is that I plan on getting 2 fish after the Damsel, but I don't know how good an idea that is. Do you think I can get the Damsel out by adding new fish and then after introducing the fish, introduce the Damsel? And don't worry, I know how to get fish out, I have experience in that.

How big is the tank and what are the other fish you are going to add? Azure are one of the more peaceful damsels. Tank size plays a huge part.

Oh, and about the fish I plan to add, it would be a Flame Cardinalfish and a Banggai Cardinalfish.

Honestly it would depend on the attitude of the Azure you end up with. Cardinals are pretty timid and it is a smaller tank. I would definitely give it a go and just be prepared to remove the damsel if needed.

Ok, thanks for the heads up.

IME, the damsel will claim the entire 20 gallon tank and it will be very hard to get other fish in there. I had a damsel in a 20 gallon then tried to add another and the first one got killed right away, the second one I had to put a divider in the tank to seperate them.

Damsels can be territorial and uninviting. Provide cover but not too much in case you need to remove an aggressor.

Your problem is probably that you have put the Damsel as the first fish, since by putting the Damsel as the first fish it will settle and since there is no other fish the entire territory will be its own.

My azure was first fish added 2 years ago. Have added 20 fish since. Has never chased a fish in my tank. Even new additions. My clowns are the murderous ones.
