Hey R2R

For a while I’ve had some weird concerns over my older hammers that I’ve had in my tank for a while. I have an indo gold and a green toxic hammer since June / July of this year that when I first got them, did great in my tank.

Here are some quick pictures of them in their prime

here they looked amazing . They no longer look like this.

on September 11 of this year, I went to a frag swap and bought me a multi head gold / orange hammer, and a very big green hammer that have been doing amazing.

a week prior to the swap I changed out my aqua scape which lead to a battle of dinos that I solved with a UV sterilizer and bacterial dosing.

After the dinos , GHA came in which I solved with a CUC. This just occurred two weeks ago and now my tank looks great.

here are my parameters now along with picture of my older hammers and newer hammers

Alk : 9dKH (Hanna Checker)
Cal : 490 ppm (Red Sea)
Mag : 1560 ppm (Red Sea)
No2 : 5 ppm (salifert)
Phos : .03 ppm (Hanna Checker)
Salinity : 1.025
pH : 8.3 ppm. (Salifert)
Temp : 78.3 - 78.5 F

does anyone know why my older hammers may not be doing too hot , although all my parameters are stable ?? Thank you in advance !

How did you acclimate them?
Mag is very high - should be about 1300
Light and water flow play a huge role with them and the gold may be branching whereas the others are standard hammer version

I always float the bag for 15 minutes and then drip for 30 minutes. Flow wise my corals seem happy over all, they’re getting plenty of flow. All my hammers are branching, as I don’t really like wall hammers haha
