What test kit are you using for ammonia? The tank looks like it could have a lot of bacteria in the water column. Are the damsels breathing hard?

And Welcome to Reef2Reef!
The tank looks primo.
I have the Api Ammonia and Nitrite kits. Not the strips. The tank is actually pretty clear the pics were taken after i stirred things up moving rocks around.

Welcome to R2R and thanks for sharing.

It would be a good idea to replace the hydrometer you mentioned with a refractometer. :)

I second this. Also, get a control liquid to standardize the refractometer.

And welcome! Tank is beautiful! If you've seeded your tank well - live rock, live sand, live bacteria - you may not see much of a cycle. I kept testing for ammonia think I didn't need to test for anything else, as that would be the first thing to show up. Someone (on here) suggested I test for nitrite and nitrate too. I already had some decent levels of nitrate and very little nitrite. I never saw ammonia in my tank.

So, keep an eye on those other things too, especially if you aren't having an ammonia in a few weeks.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
