First post
First, some background; I was given this 35 gallon tank and rock and got everything running about 5 years ago. I think the rock had a large amount of nutrients present when I set up the tank because I went through a terrible bout of red slime algae that almost made me quit. We're talking this whole tank was basically red no matter how many water changes I did/ scraping the glass and cleaning up the rocks. About three months ago, everything just cleared up. The coralline algae finally started growing so I seeded the tank with a liquid product to speed things up, and that was starting to grow when my Prime 16HD light went out. It is returning from the repair shop today, while I was waiting, I purchased 3 zoas and an acan frag from WWC.
Current situation; my frags are being delivered next week, but I am at a loss where to put them. At first, I imagined an acan garden for the tank, but the zoas were to beautiful to pass up. My thought process was to put the zoas along the front on the bottom next to the sandbed moving one of the rocks in the middle to close the rock ring and then slowly adding acans to the upper areas of the rock for my garden. Or should i put the zoas on the rock attached to the back glass, so they can have their own island and then have acans on the rest of the rockwork starting at the bottom? The rock on the glass is about 30 inches below the position of the Prime 16HD, but can be moved to a different glass panel and situated lower.
Thank you for any recommendations, and sorry the post is so long.
