I got a SmatFram G3 60W today and what a difference in colors over the old Aqua Knight V2 30W light.

I was getting really good growth with my old Spectra Aqua Knight V2, but it was WAY too blue. When I would try to bring in more whites, it looked horrible to me. The white LEDs are warm white, no K value given. I was running the 2 blue channels at 100% and the white at 10%.

Using my Photone app, I matched the PAR as close as possible as to not shock any corals. I’m running the white at 5%, the blue at 50% and the purple at 50% using the mixed reef settings. I really like that I have room to move up if needed and I’m not running any channels at 100%!

It also has much better spread, but I expected that over the tiny puck light before.

Pic with no filters. It still looks really blue in the pic, but it’s a lot more white in person. It looks more like a metal halide from the past than a blue LED .

I have this exact light over my anemone tank. I currently only have nems and softies in the tank. Light does well for some LPS as well. I’ve had mine for about 3 years now. Still going strong. Great budget light.
