so my co woker fraged me a nice piece of red monti, i know it needs alot of light but not sure where to place it . i figured the placement for now should be ok i have no other corals under the ledge and if so it will grow up towards the light? opinions

That looks like montipora capricornis, the current placement should be just fine.
 
No worries, that's a nice looking monti. Once it starts growing it should take on some cool shapes.
