Love your build. Good luck with treating the fish. Do you have website connections where you got your rocks?
Love the crevices and the movement.

How’s the Reef Octopus 220int skimmer going on , do you think the 200int maybe better or not ?. Or are you glad you went for the biggest one

I’ll be going for the Reef Octopus 220sss version it’s called in your country , in England it’s just the 220s.

On the octopus 8 return pump what setting have you and did you add the float for safety?

sorry for your losses in fish , I had a loss about 12 months ago (3 fish one I had for 10yrs) ,it’s heart breaking , but I told myself , carry on it’s just life , joys of having marines , a set back but we are strong , Great thread.

hope everything is going good and the fish are enjoying being back in the DT as I hope everything has been good the past couple months

I ended up with a total reboot- I lost all of my corals, but luckily, all of the fish were fine. I sent water off to ATI to try and figure out what the problem was and I actually still don’t have a definitive answer other than my tin levels were very elevated. I switched salts and removed a DIY fuge light that I noticed had condensation on it every morning- I figured it might be dripping something bad into my sump.Whatever it was it took out all snails, pods, brittle stars, etc. Luckily between the back up frags I had in my other tank and friends that have helped me out, I’m getting close to where I was collection wise and the tank looks good. I’ll update pics once everything grows in a little.

Unfortunately, that rock is no longer available. It is Totoka, from Fiji (where there is a ban in place.) All of the fish are fat and happy!

I love the INT220 skimmer. I am glad that I went with the bigger one. It really pulls out some funk! I run the Varios 8 at full power and I do use the float switch. It’s come in handy a few times already. The top off system will get clogged from time to time resulting in a low water level and it has saved the pump from running dry.

Sorry to hear that but glad the fish were all good. Hopefully everything gets back on track fast!

Hi can you tell me what settings your skimmer is on , controller box number power , skimmer red turn valve number and the gate in the Red Sea sump , do you have it all the way down water level lower in the sump or do you have the gate right to the top more water in the sump , yep I know every tank is different but gives me that ball park idea , then I can tweak it myself , thanks

I don’t remember messing with the gate in the sump but currently I run the pump at the “3” setting and the air intake is right around “4”. The water level in the sump hits the the center of the white air line on the skimmer. Here are pics to help show you .

Other than the macro shots I’ve been posting, no. It looks like a box of rocks from 4 feet away with all frags. I guess I should update this thread with pics as I go. I have already already added 50 plus pieces but most are insignificant nubs at this point. I’ll add more as time goes on. I’ve added some torches, zoas and acans from one of my other tanks just to have something to look at :)

Incredible photos--- What camera are you using? I can never seem to get that close to the corals.

Thanks! I’m still trying to learn.

I’m using an older (2007) lumix gf1 micro 4/3 camera and an old school manual macro lens with an adapter to fit my camera. The adapter acts like an extension tube making for great close ups. The one caveat is that this makes the depth of field very shallow-making it impossible to get a large piece all in focus. It’s a cheap way to go and I think I paid 100 dollars for the lens on eBay. When taking shots under bluer light, I use a light orange filter on the lens. I’m just using I-photo on my Mac for exposure adjustments and cropping.
