Red eyes, large crushing claws, Definitely not a crab you want to grow up in your reef tank. Baby food jar, strip of clam or squid or mussel.

I live in Montana so flushing is illegal. This crab is only 1.5 cm. Not large at all.

Regardless of it's current size, it bears the markers of a destructive crustacean. It could be the best, mild mannered, Mr. Bean of crabs, but it is still a crab, and the size of the claws in ratio to the size of the body, the black and sharply angled tips, and the body structure tell me that you do not want this getting bigger in your display tank.

At the end of the day, it's your tank, and your call.

I looked into stone crabs and it doesn't fit the profile. I have contacted the creator of CrabDatabase for assistance in getting an id on this crab.

This is only 1.5cm in size...

1.5cm for now...it won’t be for long. The dip in high salinity water will get it out if you can figure out his rock. You could keep it in the sump if you have one. Would be cool to watch it grow. You will be surprised how big it gets!! If not, there’s a fish store by me who takes all these monster crabs to feed their large predators.
