Hey All,

Getting a new Redsea 700 Max G2+ delivered in a few days and decided to try and make a negative space aquascape for it. Ill post a pic and video of progress so far. This is the first rockscape I have ever attempted so I just want to get some feedback if there is things I am doing that will hinder the tank in some way in the future. Plan is for the tank to be euphyllia and acro centric. Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks for the feedback! IMG_3688.jpg

I disagree on the need for more rock, just grow your coral fast, they will appreciate all the extra flow that can arrive without the rock clogging up the works.

I think you have a good structure shape, but they look flimsy so make sure to reinforce it, once the water goes in you won’t have many options.

Thanks for the feedback. I was planning on adding like 25% more rock on top of what I have right now. I am mostly concerned that the structure is good and flow will be good around it. Good points about having more hiding places for fish though.

I think it looks rad. I’ve got a 5’ similar-ish-kinda-ish scape in a Red Sea 525 with a lot of islands and corals on individual frag rocks spread out that provide a grip ton of spots. Those are easy to add. I have my scape so there’s a sight line wall to wall across the back (I think it looks cool). Also left space across entire bottom back wall for two opposing Nero 5s for extra flow (they hit the overflow but keeps everything moving in the back. Plus two gyres opposing on the book ends ripping on random is working for the sticks. It’s hard to keep my torches from getting blasted - they get strong though. I wish I would have left way more room on my sides and built it much lower.

Agree on not overdoing the rock - hiding spots are essential but need to consider your grow out plan.
Maybe you could consider adding some non permanent rock to improve hide spots now that you can remove in the future when things have grown in.

Started as this.

Good Looking scape, It has good spots for the euphyllia with distance from acro spots in case sweeper tentalces become a problem and has good elevation to showcase different colonies and growth structures. I regretted not putting those two things in my scape the most. I was also told I needed more rock for fish, I figured it definitely couldn't hurt, so I made new caves and they ended up finding a spot on the old rock anyway.
