Has anyone used the NEW MAG test kit from Salifert? Its reading 100ppm over the old one and I bought 3 and they all read 100ppm over and my old salifert and aquaforest was reading very similar reading which was 100ppm less

MAG tests are always inaccurate, randy holmes farley has a thread on it.

But the fact that the new test is reading over 100ppm is the issue do I just manually calculate 100ppm +

Without more testing with more kits, there’s no way to know which, if either, is accurate.

I did ICP test and the old salifert and aquaforest was very close lol and I like to keep them at 1500, my torches do so well and when it drops under 1400 they are not happy

I’m always skeptical of claims of things not doing well under natural conditions (natural seawater does not contain anywhere near that much magnesium), but if you want to keep it high and do not want to use RMM, then I’d subtract 100 ppm from the current kit and see if the corals continue to be happy at your target.
