Tank has a tight lid. Got the cori’s yesterday and it’s only 1-2 inches. 2 hours prior it was swimming around the tank and socializing.

It went missing all day long. I changed the water, did maintenance and whatnot. Still missing. I scoured the tank for that thing. The only thing i can think is that it possibly (and very unlikely) swam through the overflow teeth into the internal overflow. I checked the sump and no sign of it.

I know they bury themselves in the sand at night but why would it suddenly do that after it was out and about?

Anyone have any thoughts?

I had one hide in the sand for 2 weeks, this was after I found it in the overflow and put it back in the tank. I thought it was dead. It also went into an mp40 and survived.. they are tough also odd little fish that like to jump! Chances are it will appear out of nowhere.
I keep mine in the sump now. My clowns do not like him so I believe that is why he keeps going missing.

A new wrasse won’t be used to your light schedule. See it as jet lag, if it’s happy and there is no aggression it should figure it out

it’s funny because i also put in a solon fairy with it (gorgeous fish btw) and that fairy acts like he’s been there for months. Both went in together at same time yesterday. Not a care in the world. I saw the coris hanging near the overflow early this am so i’m going to investigate and get the flashlight in there tomorrow.

it’s an H Chrysus, for sure. Or a yellow wrasse.

It buried itself. They do this. It could be up to 3 or 4 days before he comes out. Dont dig thru sand to find them. Freaks them out and will reset there freak out timer. Once its use to your light schedule it will be up just before lights on and in sand just before lights out
