New tank advice needed.

I have this thought on a closed loop system. If I want to add in the future via sea swirls on the far side. My overflow will have 3 inch and 1/2 drains, could I add two additional inch and 1/2 "drains" and pull the closed loop from the overflow? I would cap the pvc for now but possibly utilize for the closed loop in the future? Would it work to pull closed loop from the overflow box?
Assuming I'm interpreting this correctly, the problem with the closed loop drawing from an overflow is that it won't be a closed loop anymore.
If the pump dies/is shut off, any back flow will feed back into the overflow down to the lowest output of the "closed" loop then into your drain which is very likely more than your sump can handle.

A true closed loop system basically prevents the water from going anywhere other than intended locations short of failure in any seals/catastrophic failing.

If it's something like a partial coast to coast style/floating overflow then you run into the issue of balancing water height in the overflow (a problem for a regular style as well) to not deal with air bubbles ending up everywhere.

Regardless, I can't imagine a great way to run a "closed" loop feeding off the overflow and you're better off doing it regularly via direct feed+output into the display itself and no where else.

Thank you for feedback. I am making this way too complicated, and i'm just going to stick with my MP60s.
 
So i'm kinda bumming right now. I bought a secondhand supermarin 250 skimmer and somehow I cut the cord and the edge if the skimmer while i was carrying it. Its an ac pump and the joint will not be under water where i fix it. What is the best way to reconnect with the chance it will fall underwater?
