So I have this new tank I setup a month or so ago. I notice this algae growing and figured it was part of the ugly stage and just was letting it do its thing. Well today I decide I was going to do a water change and scrub some off and do a general clean up. I went at this stuff with a tooth brush and it wouldn’t budge. I’m new to saltwater but been around freshwater for quite a few years and every piece of hair algae I came across I was able to easily scrub off. I’ve noticed that if I stir it off the sand it will literally float away with a piece of sand stuck to it.

Question is does anyone have a clue what this is and if I need to do anything or is it just another part of the ugly stage and ride it out.

Tank is Fluval Evo 13.5 with 15lbs of live sand 13 lbs of dry rock with 5 lbs of live rock from my lfs. IMG_5547.jpeg IMG_5548.jpeg
