Well my neighbor gave me his old 40 tall(actually I think it's 37). It has a old eclipse hood with a kind of trickle filter. I want to build a small reef tank with some easy corals and LR. I was thinking of drilling it for a sump, but it seems kinda small to have this set up with a sump. Any thoughts on running any canister style filters instead?

You could run a canister but its the same idea as lr. I would drill it and have a sump. You would be much better off.

Is that tank drillable?

I think I am going to bite the bullet and drill it out and use a sump. I believe it is a Marineland aquarium, so I called them and they said the bottom was tempered. so I guess I have to drill the side out. Or has anyone had luck drilling tempered glass.
