I just got a 20 gallon cycled .. What would be the easiest coral frag to start with? Just gave a basic LED hood but plan to upgrade lighting and water flow soon..
Also I've got 8 hermits, most are small but got two medium sized thin striped hermits . Will they bother some corals?
Looking for A lot of advise on getting everything setup right..
Thanks
BD

I would suggest to get some flow first then look into these Soft corals- Shrooms, Toadstool, Nepthea.

What is a good powerhead for a 20 gallon? Lighting? Do you know if medium size hermits (thin striped hermits) be a problem with those soft corals you mentioned...
Thanks

Try a cheap mushroom. They have great color and texture. You'll be amazed at how interesting they really are. Try lower light and flow. BTW they can move. Trying to save you an embarrassing call to the lfs. :)

Depends your budget for lights. There’s Ai Prime, Kessils-a80 or 160, Black box leds.

You mentioned striped hermits. Are these the ones you can pick up down on the coast? If so they will probably go through your coral in short order.

That's him.. My son found him on the beach. Guy at the LFS told me he would be reef safe..I'll have to research it more.. He is already pretty big but not sure if he will get bigger.. I might put some cheap mushrooms as suggested by Katrina71 and watch what he does. I also bought another striped hermit at LFS but he was smaller than the one we had.. Both times he claimed they would behave.....?
1st pic is Striped we caught wild 2nd is the smaller one we got at LFS..
*The 2nd pic is not the other Striped , just found a another pic when I first put them in aquirium 3rd pic shows both
New Tank 20 gallon salt, Just cycled
1Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab
5 Red Leg Hermits
4 Blue Leg Hermits
2 Striped Hermits
1 Yellowtail Blue Damsel
10-15lbs live rock

Can't tell about the second one but I would get rid of the first one.
