Ah...ok I'll switch it. Let's see what happens lol
I run mine in 6.5" of water and the controller at the first line as it really needs no more.
I have not adjusted it in 1.5 years of use.
You dont need to turn the pump off to clean the cup, feed the tank, or work in the tank.
I do not run the sock and the oupupt is 6" from my return with no bubble issues.
I have removed and cleaned it 3 times.
Drop it back in turn it on and it just plain skims.
Very underrated skimmers.
Enjoy.

Ya pretty happy so far. It started skimming right away. I do notice that some foods will make it stop skimming and I'm still working on quieting a gurgling sound. I'm hoping that switching the air hose to the right way might help.

Ineresting, what food cause it to stop skimming?
I feed pretty heavy with 14 fish in my 120 at 8 cubes a day and it has no effect on the skimmer.
I do not feed any coral food however.
My tank is mostly sticks with a few lps.
I feed some r.o.e a couple times a week too.
I also dose carbon.
I can not hear mine run.

Interesting as I just soaked some krill and nori in it this weekend.
What size is your tank. Mine is a 120.
I have only done it maybe a few times in 1.5 years but never checked the skimmer for loss of head. If it did it recovered quickly.

Ya it definitely seems to kill the foam head for a few hours...I'm feeding pretty heavy now to battle an ich outbreak. BTW, I switched the air tubing and it took away the gurgling noise! Very happy about that. Can barely hear it now.

Yes, that is backwards, the silencer is sealed and can be in water, the main issue when installed this way is the hose is more prone to kinks from the weight of the silencer.
