hi my name is anthony iv been in the hobby around a year now a few months ago i upgraded my 55 to a 120 recently i added corals to the tank zoas to be specific they have been there around a month and havent opened but are alive i was useing a api test kit it said everything was ok i got a red sea test kit yesterday
my tank
ammonia is .2 to .4
nitrites is .0
nitrates is 20 to 30
alk is 9 dkh
salt is 1.022

Welcome to reef2reef !!looks to me as if nitrates are a bit high.partial water change should help .do you use coral dips when introduce new corals to tank?your salinity is a bit on the lower end also I'm not sure if this would affect em from opening up.my zoa tank is 1.025 to 26 most time

im slowing raising the salt and the nitrates im doseing a red sea nitrate reducer

How long has tank been running you think?it is possible if you did a tank transfer u may have set off a cycle again..do you use tap water treated or rodi water? For nitrates IME water changes was the best for me

Jeremy I had a small clown fish die actually at one point and I had to move the rocks around i have nothing that stirs up the sand so I think it's possible when I started doing so it may have made it and I wasent able to find the clown so I think that maybe all part of my problem

I've used this stuff called stability when I thought my tank was going through a mini cycle from me messing around with stuff ,I have a 75 gallon mixed reef and basically its got lot of stuff in it ,I used the stability and stuff seemed to do ok with it

It's a long road keeping saltwater tanks.there's going to be smooth times and bad parts ,patience and learning as much as u can helps this become more smooth .

I got it at petsmart but Google it should help u out . I order lots of stuff off net

It worked good for me but every system is different but from what u said and your numbers it may help out

No problem ,glad you came to reef2reef,the people are friendly and always help out, so don't be afraid to ask for help, starting new threads isn't that bad,you just need to mess around on here a bit to get used to it
