Hello all, hoping to get some guidance on how else to troubleshoot this..

been fighting with Dino’s and am confident I’m almost victorious. To assure this I bought a UV.

Last night I added a UV sterilizer (15 watt Aqua UV 2000+)

it’s on my Waterbox 25 gal.

Current Parameters are: ph 8.0, Ammonia 0, N03 13.1, Ph04 undetectable (0 - .25) spec grav 1.025 and temp 79.5
All in all it is tracking within its usual ranges.

my question is this morning all my fish are lethargic and not swimming actively. Rather stagnant and just sitting on either the back wall or floor.

the frogspawn and Zoa looks fine and unaffected.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I'm not understanding how a UV would negatively affect anything. Either it's morning and they aren't active yet or you reduced flow and there's a lack of oxygen? Not sure it's possible I think that UV is the one with a spout that flows back into the tank isn't it?

Yes it is… and I did turn off the main return because of how I set up the source and return for the UV light. (UV is pulling from sump and feeding display as opposed to main return pump)

I’ll try adding additional flow.

there lights come on at 8:30 so they are usually up and around by now.

In that case my guess would be a lack of flow leading to a lack of oxygen

So I turned on the return pump yesterday morning and this morning they are still lethargic and either laying on the sand bed or swimming in a corner….

I may do a 20-30% water change today just as a safety precaution.

I do not run carbon. Fred you mention they can be toxic. Everything was fine with the Dino’s until this point. Do you think they die off from the UV may have released toxins?

Yeah, I'd do a water change and remove the UV, putting back the return pump for normal circulation - to rule that out. Running some carbon too. Put the dino fight on the back burner and makes sure your fish can survive first...

So after turning back on the return pump 1 of the 3 fish died (clown goby.) Maroon Clown and fire fish are still lethargic and puttering around.

I did two 25% water changes… I guess let’s see how it goes.

The only thing I can potentially think of is that yesterday I was working on the pool and rinsed my hands before turning to the aqurium and there was residual chlorine on my arms.

however, I would expect the frogspawn to not be fully extended or show some signs of distress…

either way I bought rubber disposable gloves for working around the pool now.

I’ll post an update if anything changes.

thanks everyone

To check for stray voltage what should I do besides trace all the wires and make sure there isn’t water on them?
