So my LFS has a very ok selection of corals. They have a bunch, but not a huge variety. I still try to support them if they have what I want because they are super friendly and helpful and as a local business owner, I always try to help out.
I wanted a bit more exotic zoas so I looked online and came across New York Reef Aquatic. Boy am I glad I found them!
I picked up 3 frags (all fairly priced imo) -- Rainbow Vampires, Illuminati's, and Campfire/Nightmare's. I also found a Blue Lagoon on their site but sadly it was 'out of stock' so I asked them if this was a 'temporarily out of stock' thing or was it a kind of one off zoa they had. Jenny promptly emailed me back saying that it is a hit or miss if they are temp/perm out of stock but they in fact had a Blue lagoon in stock If I was interested in it.
I said sure, so they added one in stock on their site, I ordered it and did 'local pickup' so I didn't get re-charged for shipping, and it came with the others.
Shipping is a bit pricey, especially considering I am only 40mi away ($45) but it is fedex priority overnight, and very well packed so didn't really mind, and when I opened my box this morning to my pleasant surprise I found 2 extra frags in my bag for free! And they aren't just 'ugly' small frags, one has about 30 heads and the other 15, cool and vibrant colors too! So that is about another ~$75 in free zoas.
They look good and healthy and they are currently acclimating while I write this. I will update once they open and I can see the colors first hand but super excited.
Great selection, fair prices, look healthy, quick and helpful customer service, and (not expected) but got two extra frags for free! Will definitely shop there again when my wallet can afford more corals
TL;DR -- New York Reef Aquatics is awesome and I highly recommend them!
