I have a very healthy 55g African Cichlid tank. Over filtration, lots of bubbles and 2 powerheads. I clean the substrate about every 8-10 days. I monitor the canister filter, TopFin 60g filter and a MarineLand bio-wheel. So, I'm not completely new to fish and aquariums. I joined this forum to learn more and not make some costly mistakes and to take care of nature.

My new salt water setup:

Brand new 75 g tank
LED Lights 4'
Fine sand sediment
Coral base
Flu-val PS1 Protein skimmer for 45g
Coral Life phosphate filter and 30g mini skimmer
75g Canister filter with UV (I will need to clean it about every 3-4 days, I think)
75g Power head (with inline flter media)
API Tetra Aquarium salt

Completion date is next birthday of Jesus. It wll take 4-6 months to establish the tank. Could I run my biowheel temporarily to get the beneficial bacteria going? I wll be monitoring TDS (I will use natural spring water until I get RO up and running), temp, nitrates, pH and salinity. My first 3 fish will be a Clown, yellow Tang and a blue/yellow Tang. Let the tank go 2 months before adding another 2-3 fish. And add a few coral plugs to the base. What are some good looking coral for this combo of fish?

My canister will have cotton floss, foam, bio balls, activated charcoal, Zeolite and phosphate filter media.

What is different in maintaining a salt tank versus a fresh water?

Typical TDS readings of tap water 350ppm
HEB Natural Spring Water 125ppm
RO 5 or less

Like I said, I'm a newbie. Any constructive criticism welcomed.

Each month, I will purchase an item. By Christmas, I should have it all. Rome wasn't built in a day. :)
