Welcome to R2R!!! Looking forward to following along with your build. I recently started a 55 gallon acrylic myself. I have my lights on 60% blue and 20% white as well currently 13" from the water and my fish seem fine. I think that the % of the light solely depends on the height above the water, but when in doubt less is best and slowly ramp up to see how it affects the life in your tank. Have not added coral's yet
Awesome the lights are about 9 inches from top of tank and I'm assuming water line will be around an inch below that, so hopefully the 60/20 will work I think it looks good....
Here is my question though...fo you ramp it down everytime you get a new coral then work back to what you want?
The 52-week internet series of videos found at BRS (Bulk Reef Supply Supply) should prove both interesting and informative; it will take you through the hobby from the ground floor, up. Have fun!
Okay got the rock in today and added a frozen shrimp...what's the next step?
Still need stuff for the refugium, and need the protein skimmer, but am assuming I shouldn't run those while its cycling anyway...
When do I add the clean up crew? Once I'm showing 0 ammonia, o nitrite, and some nitrate, should I add fish immediately or wait for the uglies to come and go? If I wait how do I keep the bacteria alive?
At what point can I ad coral?
