Hi All,

I am new to marine, but have had a freshwater tank for several years. I love trying to make the reef work, but am struggling and learning. I live in Northern Illinois.

Equipment:
I bought a 75 gal setup used from a local guy. It has a 30 gal sump, some marineland pump and lights. I put in a heater, a skimmer, and 2 cheap wavemakers. I learned about the skimmer I was sold at my LFS isn't great (it is a hang on back that can go in a sump), so basically I keept getting wet skim....well I learned that since it is a hang on, it needs to be not so deep in the sump, so I've added a couple of bricks to adjust.

Thanks

Glass Joe

Welcome. I would dig around on this board and watch tons of YouTube videos as you continue your build. I'm sure you already know, but patience seems to be the best move! Good luck and start a build thread to keep everyone informed. It seems to give people a chance to ask questions and get specific advice. I'm new to the board, but everyone seems to be very supportive.
