Hey Everyone!

I’ve had a IM 10gal for just over a year but am getting ready to upgrade to a RedSea 42 gal (second hand tank, can’t remember the model off the top of my head) anyway, I still consider myself very new.

the plan for the new tank will be bare bottom and mixed reef. I’m looking for some ideas on fish. I started my list but when I decided to do BB- most of my list dwindled down. only fish left on the list is a Pygmy Angelfish

what are some of your favorites?!

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!! Hard to go wrong with a clownfish!

Welcome to R2R!

Like @SeaworthyAquatics (and yourself) I like fire fish. Don't think I'd have a tank without at least one. Tough though if you have a clown. Angel really shouldn't bother with it. Most of my other smallish fish favorites like sandy bottoms.

Study-up on sites like Live Aquaria .com and Saltwater Fish .com.

You might like a Fang Tail Blenny, Chalk Bass, Pink Streak Skunk Clown, and Flame or Longnose Hawk fish, among others. Best wishes!

A clownfish pair would be a good option. As for the rest, you could have up to 6 or 7 fish based on size I would say. Good options include blennies, gobies, cardinalfish, damsels, firefish, dottybacks, and much more.

Welcome to R2R!

Now that you have some experience, I’m a big fan of the copperbands. Make sure you see him eat frozen foods at LFS before buying. I had one in my RSR 170 (34g).
