Believe it or not, you can actually do it with the tank full. I know. Seems unlikely. It's true!

Looks like the plan of attack is to try a magic eraser, if that fails, drain and attempt to remove with hydrochloric or muriatic acid.

Does Waterbox offer support to get their thoughts on this in case it's that tin issue? If they don't feel like that's the problem maybe they have recommendations on what to try to remove the stains. If this is a brand new tank I'm assuming there's a warranty that you don't want to void by not following their guidance.

You dont need to drain to use HCl acid unless you have some other reason you need to. Hydrogen and Cloride will not upset anything in an tank containing just salt water.

The etching definitely faded with time, and I don't see it when the tank is running. I have been cleaning the glass with a plain magic eraser during water changes. I'll try to get a picture when the pumps are all off.
