Nitrate levels staying very low

Tank has been set up about 3 months now, fully cycled and stocked with 2 fish about 3 weeks ago
Haven’t done any water changes yet, I thought the whole point of water change was to bring nitrates etc down but am still basically reading zero?
Basically no algae in the tank yet too?
