I put the first fish in the tank about 8 weeks ago. Nitrates have been consistently in the 5-7 range and phosphates had crept up to .25. In the last week, the phosphates are down to .03 and nitrates are around .2 per salifer ttest kits.

I had some diatoms early on and they have been giving way to green algae, but nothing excessive.

Should I be concerned by the very low nitrates?

If the tank is new, it's going to go through the "nasties" for a little while. Expected.
