Nitrite high in cycling

20 gallon saltwater tank. Cycling on 7th day with amonia at 0 and nitrite 5ppm. Should I do a water change or just wait it out
Good news is that NitrIte has little to no significance in saltwater opposed to freshwater. Unless its over 100-120, I would not worry about it.

Hello and welcome to R2R!

Like vetteguy said, nitrites are no longer really a concern when cycling, they do show your tank is working on it ;)

Heater is at 84 and salinity is at 20. Can I lower heater and raise salinity to 35 now that amonia is at 0?

My tanks run between 76 degrees and 77 degrees. 84 degrees is hot and the salinity at 20, is low. 34 - 35 ppt is an excellent area to be at. You want Ammonia and nitrites at 0. These two are not good for fish.

Yes- salinity raise slowly removing a quart of water and replacing with higher salinity twice a day
Nitrites of no concern Unless sky high
