So, I had a fish die in QT. It was a one-spot foxface. When he arrived, he really was not doing so well. I've gotten my refund from LA already for the fish...but I'd like to dig a little deeper into this to see if I played a role.

I drip acclimated him for 1 hour before putting him into the QT. I did a small water change to match the SG of the shipping water.

The quarantine tank was fully cycled, and I added the fish. I dosed cupramine because he was listing sideways and laying on the bottom of the tank. He was getting blown around by the powerhead a little bit, so I turned it off to reduce stress.

Fast-forward to the morning and the little guy didn't make it. I tested all of my parameters and here's what I found:

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0.5ppm
Nitrate: 1-5ppm

The nitrite level was elevated a little AFTER I added him, well, removed him from the tank. Is it possible he started to decompose and the nitrite level was from his death? Or, did the level kill him?
