In short, what starts it, a stressor. Leads to bacterial imbalance.

That could be caused by a multitude of things.
Water parameter changes, pest, toxins, bacteria, protozoan, algae, chronic long term water quality issues, temperature, flow, light. Some of the aforementioned are more likely to initiate than others.

That said, what ultimately ends up happening is a bacterial imbalance IMO. Normally when I see STN in newly received stock, it responds well to heavy dosages of antibiotics, used responsibly. It seems to reset the microbiology and allows the colony to recover. I have never actually lost a coral to antibiotic usage alone IMO.

I’m sure others will have feedback as well.

This^^^^^, has you had any changes or water quality problems?

you should try the moonshine method. you will dial your tank where it needs to be and your SPS will look their best and you wont STN anymore

Bold claim. How on earth can elemental perfection prevent shading and bacterial inundation?

Only my mistake was
Missing cal the Hanna sanlity checker

When I found out is 1.021
Slow add back the mix water n replace the RODI

Ive been reefing over 20 years and never had my coral look so good as they do by dialing in the elements in my reef tank. you are talking about light penetration and shading. I'm talking about dialing in water chemistry.......2 totally different things

What do you consider slow? How long did you take to raise it from .021 to .026? SPS no likey.

Low nutrients isn’t the only cause of coral death.

As a general guideline, acropora need high flow, 250-350par, and proper water chemistry.

They also need a tank without parasites (AEFW). You can manage flatworms with wrasses or go fallow to eradicate them

In addition, sometimes you lose a piece. If they get stressed, they can be susceptible to bacterial infections. Sometimes you will lose new corals.

SPS don’t tolerate out of wack parameters. Salinity of 1.021 is too low. You must make sure your test kits are accurate and calibrated.

Live rock start or dead rock? With live rock the biome can be settled enough at 6 mos to drop in some starter acros. Dead rock starts can take MUCH longer.70% is dead rock
70% is dead rock with 30% of the cinematic fake rock

So, 100% dead rock.
I would definatly hold off on sps for at least 3 months but probably more like 6 months.

You could pick up some live rock at a LFS from there holding bins. That might speed up the process.

So your biome is still a fairly noisy place relative to the needs of the more delicate SPS. As suggested above, adding some live rock from a mature system can accelerate the maturing process.
