I have been very diligent with my Facebook privacy settings. With each "update," I've read the articles and adjusted my settings to make sure that what I post is only available to my FB friends and that none of my comments appear on other websites.

Today, I was reading an article at cnn.com. When I got to the end I was rather surprised to see my photo next to a Facebook logo and a statement that I was logged into cnn.com through Facebook. I thought I had specifically turned that "feature" off. There also was a check box so that my comments at cnn.com could appear on my Facebook page. I never comment on news stories and had no intention of doing so for that story.

As I thought about it, I realized that somewhere in the Privacy settings I had obviously missed a check box. That also made me wonder what other check boxes I had missed, though I had worked rather hard to get the settings right. Even more scary was that I now did not know what information from my Facebook page was appearing on what other websites because of some setting I had missed or incorrectly understood. The whole thing was just too creepy for me and certainly not worth my time.

So I looked up the link to delete my Facebook account and checked that box. I know I got that one right.

I've been considering the same thing. I haven't been on in ages, but I know my stuff is wide open for everybody to see. Not sure how much I like that. Especially not that they are doing things such as allowing advertisers to use photos.

Well that sucks! I know that they keep adding more check box things to the privacy setting so one must be diligent to keep checking the account to make sure you don't miss new ones.

I'll miss you on Facebook. Oh, and change your signature ;)

I have everything on facebook set to "friends only", yet when I check out myself when not logged in, it has a photo, some of my friends, and two of my interests listed. No plausible interpretation of my facebook friends includes the whole of the internet... Not the biggest deal, but not at all honest..

That is why I NEVER use any sites like that.

I have googled my real name many times and
there is extreemly little info on the web about me.

I like to keep it that way.

It only takes a lil info here and there and next thing
you know you have a mess to straighten out.

I made an account a couple years back to see what the site was about. I forgot all about it until about 9 months ago an old friend from college found me on there. I started to find all kind of people from college and high school which was nice at first but I hate getting sent all the stoopid requests to play games, for this cause and that cause, an other dumb. I sent everyone a message and said don't be offended if I just block requests and the **** apps. I just use it to stay in touch and send a message every now and then, hey wait that sounds a lot like email. I have relatives on FB that I won't add cause they send all that crap and update their wall every 5 minutes even if they just scratch their butt..:snicker:
