Hi,

I currently have a 10g nano with 7lbs of dryrock, barebottom, and a marinepure plate on the back. I have been dosing ammonia from Dr.Tim's and used BioSpira starter bact. After the 1st week, it takes roughly 2 days for 2ppm ammonia to reach 0ppm nitrite. It is now the 3rd week and it still takes 2 days to reach 0ppm. Should I change anything or just let it run its course? This is my 1st tank so I'm getting a little bit impatient. I would much appreciate any input. Thank you!

Welcome to R2R! A couple things I would try would be to see if u could grab a small piece of live rock from your lfs (even if u dont want to leave it in permanently it would help seed what u have) and/or grab a bottle of another brand of starter bacteria. Are u running any other filtration?

Welcome to the forums!!! I agree with RI reef Guy, I put another dose of bacteria in a bottle in my tank when cycling it at about your point. In any event it cannot hurt. Also seeding your tank as suggested above is another good idea, although I never did.

Above all else, Stay the Course! Patience is most definitely a virtue in this hobby! Trust me, you will be so glad you did it the right way from the start (and so will your fish). Good luck.

This is the absolute best advice around and by far the hardest to listen to. You can do it! :D

I'm going to try another bottle from Seachem. Thanks for the inputs!

As for other filtration, I will be getting a chaeto reactor once the tank is cycled.
