Every single time I post something for local pickup I get endless inquiries for shipping. This is very frustrating. How about a new policy that punishes people who disregard item descriptions :D.

The overnight shipping cost is extremely high, let alone the need to deal with acquiring an insulated shipping container and potential DOAs etc.

Please people. No means no!

Lol, sorry, I am one that asks sometimes. Not you, but I have asked others. And the reason I ask is because I’ve had people who say no shipping, but then they can’t find local buys and so they end up shipping.

Lol. But if it came to that i'd update the thread to offer shipping! :)

It gets very annoying but unfortunately some people just don’t read

What about a policy against low ballers? I understand obo but when I list something for $350 obo and you generously offer $50? I mean c'mon man. Has that ever worked? You think I'm really going to overnight ship for $40-$50 and accept your offer of $50? Some people......

The thing is if they don’t ask because you posted “NO SHIPPING” then you change your mind. That person might not check back to your thread because they just assume it’s still no shipping. At least if they ask and you change your mind, you can go PM them.
just another perspective is all.

I hear you. It’s nerve wracking. I’m about to dive into my first shipping of coral. I’m somewhat stressed. I’ve been watching tons of videos to make sure I meet and ideally exceed the packaging.
If you have any issues or questions about shipping, send me a PM. I can help you navigate cost of materials and standard shipping guidelines as well.

By the time I deal with low balers, people who want shipping, people who want to trade, people who want to see if its "still available", people who aren't actually interested but just want to inquire and disappear, I get some pretty serious anxiety when thinking about posting something for sale here. Heck if it's not over $100 or alive I don't even bother anymore because it's not worth my time dealing with people.

Would really appreciate market place procedures that addresses some of this....

Punish people? Is this the mission and vision of R2R you picture ?

"If I can't find a local home within the next few weeks I might look into shipping"

Is Australia out of the question ??

LOL

Sarcasm

I once sold an RC buggy on eBay to someone in Australia from the States. He messaged me and said he would pay shipping and when I looked it up it was around $200. He was like no problem and paid it.

Anyway funny story we have a kangaroo loose in our town. I keep hoping to see it.

i've never sold reefing stuff, but selling anything on craigslist/offerup cracks me up. i've had people offer me like $10 for a PS4 game, which i'm like yeah that's fine, but then they ask if i can deliver it to them (40+ miles) what the heck? lol

i've been selling a game for months now and i think i'm now up to 10 people that have said hey i want it, we settle on a price, then they tell me they'll meet me the next day to get it. and i never hear from them again

Depending on how good your prices are I think people might be willing to take a risk on shipping turning out bad and they really don't mind assuming more risk without customary return and refund guarantees, usally people will even offer to pay for packaging material. If you charge 30-40% of retail im more than happy to take a risk on shipping going wrong. But if you are charging 70%+ then that stuff better be pristine and arrive in perfect shape.

but if I’ve asked and you decide to you may think

“Hey, that nice polite lady ask if I ship and I’ve decided I will so let me get in touch with her and see if she’s still interested.”

If I don’t ask and you change your mind I might miss it because even when you watch thinks on here it doesn’t always notify you. I missed some awesome T5 light that way.

But I understand you frustration with listing something and having to answer 20 people asking things that you’ve already stated. Usually I will just post something like if you decide to ship I’m interest. I don’t expect a response, and I hope I’ve help a little to bump them back to the top.
