So trueLook at the bright side, it bumps your for sale thread to the top.
By the time I deal with low balers, people who want shipping, people who want to trade, people who want to see if its "still available", people who aren't actually interested but just want to inquire and disappear, I get some pretty serious anxiety when thinking about posting something for sale here. Heck if it's not over $100 or alive I don't even bother anymore because it's not worth my time dealing with people.
After I read this, I had to read it again because when you said "polite lady", your post sounded different in my head! I've never even met you, and I am convinced you're the nicest lady on the internet!but if I’ve asked and you decide to you may think
“Hey, that nice polite lady ask if I ship and I’ve decided I will so let me get in touch with her and see if she’s still interested.”
If I don’t ask and you change your mind I might miss it because even when you watch thinks on here it doesn’t always notify you. I missed some awesome T5 light that way.
But I understand you frustration with listing something and having to answer 20 people asking things that you’ve already stated. Usually I will just post something like if you decide to ship I’m interest. I don’t expect a response, and I hope I’ve help a little to bump them back to the top.
My favorite is $50, I got cash in hand right now bro. What about a policy against low ballers? I understand obo but when I list something for $350 obo and you generously offer $50? I mean c'mon man. Has that ever worked? You think I'm really going to overnight ship for $40-$50 and accept your offer of $50? Some people......

I sell alot on Craigslist when my company cycles through gear we don't need anymore. Most of my items are several hundred dollars at least and I sell to mostly others in the industry. Every now in then I get a hostile buyer who doesnt like when I decline their $50 offer on my $300 item and they are very clear, they have cash, in there hand, right now. I repeat, the cash is literally in their hand. I won't get a better offer and they are my lifeline. ;Shamefullyembarrased ;Shamefullyembarrased ;ShamefullyembarrasedI actually had that inboxed to me yesterday. I was going to post the screenshot but decided I would be nice for once in my life. ;)

Yeah even if you could post your state like it is now, and then you can also post to a national one if your willing to ship. It would also make it where the people who look through all states hoping for shipping would only have to look at one thread. My original post was part joking sarcasm but also a serious inquiry to an upgraded marketplace as the volume seems to be pretty high these days and could perhaps support an update.
I've participated in other forums that have more robust marketplaces similar to eBay style with seller controls, offer procedures, auto close threads on sale etc that helps reduce a lot of the back and forth.
Tell me about it, my first coral shipment last month, I sealed it, made sure it was adult proof....HahahaI hear you. It’s nerve wracking. I’m about to dive into my first shipping of coral. I’m somewhat stressed. I’ve been watching tons of videos to make sure I meet and ideally exceed the packaging.
The OP makes a good point as it is frustrating and i see no bashing necessary but one cannot have high expectations with a free or community ad. This reef group has done tremendously to curb these very concerns as deemed possible and the best advice as mentioned is to SIMPLY NOT RESPOND TO THAT INDIVIDUAL.
They’ll get it and im not referring to item either LOL

Would really appreciate market place procedures that addresses some of this....
This is an international web site. Of course people want shipping. Maybe shipping should be the requirement. At the very least set people like you aside in local pick up only sections.
Why are you worried about shipping charges? The customer pays that. Shipping supplies? Charge a few bucks more for livestock, unless you are already charging top dollar. Low ballers? Shoot them a counter offer.
I sold stuff on eBay for years. Trust me when I say you do not want a site with too many controls and restrictions.
