A little fun open ended what if…

Let assume your tank was running an 100% (all fish coral and inverts doing well) and then out of nowhere all testers stopped working. No test kit and reagents were being made anymore and ICP were non existent. With nothing more then water changes and eyeballing current your dosing regiments what would you say is the first thing specifically (fish, coral, invert, pest, other , etc) in your tank that always seems to be your first indication that something may be getting out of wack with chemistry.

Don’t have an answer for this but looking for answers like…..:

if my lights come on in the morning and my (specific torch species) is shriveled

If (specific invert/fish species) dies. (Never good to experience as a first indicator)

Etc.

Really just a “most sensitive” question, now that I think about it. But every tank is different.

Essentially, “what’s your canary in your coal mine” I guess?

Probably Monti Digititata PE. Seems like the first SPS Polyps to retract a bit at the sign of high Nitrates in my tank.

Definitely a simpler ways to explain it lol
