My Reef Octopus CR-5000D is noisy — loud humming sound under the tank. I believe it’s the Water Blaster 5000? Is this serviceable or I need a new pump? CaRx pumps should not be this loud though- driving me bonkers.

Thanks

Those pumps should be quiet.
Noisy ones may have rocks in the impeller or something else that is causing it to wobble?

Also, sometimes the high dkh will cause deposits inside the impeller hole. I use Muriatic acid to descale my pumps with great results.

So, I would take the pump off and clean it. Let it soak in acid ( some folks use citric acid) and see if it impeller is clean and clear of obstruction and hopefully that will fix the issue.

Thanks — I bought a new pump, arriving this Thursday. I’ll take the old one and do a thorough inspection and soak in citric acid (got pounds of it) to see if it helps. At least I’ll have a second / backup pump.

Well - I was expecting to see a replacement pump today but looks like Aquacave sent me an email 2 days ago (which I missed) saying that the item is on “back order for 2 weeks”!$&@ Really? Why did they allow me to order, took my expedited shipping money, and now saying that the item is unavailable?

Very disappointed— this is will be my last time shopping at Aquacave.
