Hi everyone, I have recently started making changes to my tank. I took the canopy off and mounted ReefLED 90s. The tank is a 180 with dual overflow, a 40 gal sump, using Reeflo hybrid for return pump. LOVE the look and the lights. However, the tank is so noisy now. Anyone have any suggestions? This is an established tank. Thought about putting a piece of glass over each end, but I am concerned even that will interfere with air exchange. Does that sound reasonable? Or, am I just going to have to learn to live with the sound?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Let's see a photo of your plumbing in your overflows.

Any chance you could turn off the return and take another shot so it will be a bit clearer?

Hi,

Any chance you could turn off the return and take another shot so it will be a bit clearer?

It looks like a durso set up. If so I would guess you are hearing a gurgling or flush noise.

I am sorry. I hope this helps. I tried to get just the top. I believe they are just the standard pipes.

Yes, it does! Thanks. It appears that there is no vent at the top of your main downspout. I would recommend sticking a vent tube in there and muffling that vent. Some people put a valve on the vent tube to adjust but, for me, it was unnecessary. This might quiet the overflow down a bit. I built a stockman as my overflow lacked the room for your style. See this.

The concept is the same for your style just with a vent at the top of your "u" coupling/fitting.
