Noopsyche K7 III vs IV

Hi all,

Returning reefer coming back after a year break due to being overseas and am working to rebuild mostly along the same lines.

I used to have a 75g with a pair of Noop III lights on it and was pretty happy with the setup. Looking now it seems they have discontinued the III and now have an IV model.

It looks like the new model is 100W vs the old 145, but OTOH I only ran the old one at 50% power max.

Anyway - what are peoples current experience with noops, particularly the newer model.

My only experience is with III . Here's two tanks I ran them over. Keep an eye out in the dry goods for sale section. I have 6 k7 III I'm going to be listing once I get things finished up here.

I have ran v2 pros, v3,III pro and have two of the IV pro currently.

I like the IV. They dropped the wattage but supposedly changed up LED type to be more efficient, they also dropped the price. $139 each

I am guessing they may have changed around some of the values, less wattage to certain channels.

The IV does not seem to have as intense of white compared the the III pro at the same %. But the IV has more blue. If that makes sense

This works for me on the tank I have the IV on as I use them as supplemental blue to drown out the 10k halide.

I will eventually buy 4 more for my large tank

I currently have 2 x lll pro on the left and right side of my IM SR 80. I am adding in the IV pro to the middle. I was running the III pro's at 60% All channels for Half the day then Blue the latter Half. Par at top of rocks was rocking 450+ with flow. Bed was 200 to 300.

My restart with the tank is bare bottom and will be Acro dominant.

I have not used kessels personally. I am guessing a kessil will have more shimmer though because they are single puck.
There is shimmer similar to a G4 radion or ai hydra 32. dual puck in close proximity to each other.

the nice thing about the noops is they are a glass lenses. not a plastic that likes to melt.

Second is a video with noops only. Lots of blue, this was ramping down for the night running the preset sps profile.

Can see some shimmer in the video but i have 2 of these lights over a tank that is only 30 or so inches wide and lights are tilted in on each other to try to fit the foot print with a halide in the middle. not the best example

I plan on getting 2 of the IV pros for my 75g standard, think it's enough lighting for mixed reef?

mixed reef yes, heavy sps and clams probably need a third.

or do what i did over my 54G corner and put 2 Noops IV and a metal halide in the center!

What are you replacing the noops with?

Two photon 32" Only reason I'm replacing them is because I have the photons from a tear down and prefer the panel style over the pucks especially since the tank is in the LR.

Yeah I found that shades were a must have with the noops.

Anyone else find their their K7 IV noisy? Anything above 30-40% and mine has a noticeable fan whine. I swapped it for a Nicrew 100 gen2 and it is way better

Can you DM me when/if you have one left? I may be interested depending on price. I bought the k7 lV from noopsyche for $139 no tax or shipping and they came from tRSC aquatics. I got the mount also but didn't need it but for the extra $10 or whatever it was I figured if I didn't like it and sell it someone may want the bracket too.
