Noticed a nasarius snail scooting around during lights on, just now about to go to bed and noticed him all camouflaged in the rock work just hanging out.

I thought Nas snails stayed in the sand?

I guess I'll see if he's there when I wake up, got alot of the snails on the move tonight as well maybe I should over feed some? Promote some algae? My system is kept fairly clean by my snails.

Nassarius eat detritus and other food particles. I'd be worried that's a welk, there are threads in here that show how to determine that. It has something to do with the tail of the snails foot. Absolutely not normal in the case of mine.

Not a whelk shell is way too light and doesn't have spots. Also it's snout probe is not tattooed.

I never see my Nas snails above sand. Maybe once or twice quickly after feeding. But not on rocks for sure.

Checked the tank this morning it went under the sand bed as far as I can tell. W/e case closed guess it was looking for food? I'll over feed a but for a couple of days promote some algae

Mine will climb rocks to get chunks of food. I have one that perches on my frag rack also. They spend 98% of their time in and on the sand.

Upon further research I was just making sure it wasn't a whelk. I didn't think it was as I've had no snail loss and I don't ever see em

I'll assume food is getting a bit scarce. When I out the snails in my sand bed and rock was brown now everything's clean. I'll promote some algae and see how it goes
