Pink stuff on LR, filter intake and heater

Hello!

I have two questions. First, I noticed pink...stuff...on one of my filter intakes last night. I looked closer this morning and it is also on my heater and Ive got some very pretty pink sections on my live rock. Originally I thought the pink on the LR was new, but looking back I think it was there before but less of it and I had a pretty fabulous ugly stage during cycling that covered it. Is it Corelline? Or something else?

Second question: My DT tank always seems to be green hazed. My QT tank looks crystal clear, but my DT just always seems kinda green hazed. Maybe a dumb question, but is there any particular reason why that might be?

DT Tank Specs:
55 gallon FOWLR
Approx 2ish months old (finished it's cycle and fish were added March 25th)
Filtration = Two HOB filters (Seachem tidal 55 and Toptfin Large Silenstream)
Lighting = the ones built into the tank lid
Stock = 2 clown fish 1 skunk shrimp and lots of snails (my CUC is exclusively snails. I tried emeral crabs and they died rather quickly (a couple weeks) and I dont trust my skunk shrimp with hermit crabs. So, all snails currently)
Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates = 0
Phosphates = .2 ish
Algae = a light dusting of annoyance on the glass and a thicker dusting of annoyance on the sand bed (I just got some CUC snails that clean the sand bed for this) but my Live Rock is pretty nice. I also have a couple snails with some long hair algae on their shells.

Definitely appears to be coralline algae.

Agreed! Coralline. As for the green haze, could be a number of things. Could just be lighting, could be floating algae or even just a film algae on the glass. Do you run mechanical filtration or UV? Adding a polishing pad or similar may help get the clarity you desire.

I have two standard filter sponges in the TopFin and the ceramic rings in the Tidal. I added a polishing pad to the Tidal maybe a week ago but I havent seen a difference. Ill take a look at it again. Maybe I need to adjust the location of it?

Perhaps. I’ve never ran HOB with a saltwater except the old aquaclears which used a media basket style (after research kinda like the Tidal).

It looks like the tidal might not be very well designed for a polishing pad (just an opinion) but if that was the filter I was using, I’d put it between the sponge and ceramic rings.

If putting polishing pad in the TopFin, id put it as the last stage before the water leaves the filter.

I’m kind of wondering if it’s not enough flow from the filters resulting in the green water. This has some helpful info on UV as well - https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/green-water.707289/

I was curious too about the flow, but these filters put out a ton of water when they are turned up. Like...I have to turn the flow down to feed my fish cause the food is slung to the bottom almost instantly when they are turned all the way up and my clowns would starve otherwise cause they have no hope to catch it that fast.

I just bought a UV sterilizer thing to try out though! That sounds like it might just be the perfect thing to try to clear up the floating algae or what not.
